We’ve just returned from a week’s all-inclusive stay here with two other families. Overall we had a brilliant holiday. If you visit expecting a 3* hotel, I don’t think you’ll be disappointed and the price reflects this. However, in my opinion it is not currently 4* standard. With some modernisation and improvements I think the hotel could easily reach 4* standard. We arrived late to a very busy reception. I felt sorry for the lovely lady working alone, trying to check in around 25 people. The security guard stood behind her with his large truncheon was quite off-putting, and I felt he could have helped her to help speed up the check in process for guests. We then had to carry our cases downstairs to room 251. Unfortunately, we were disappointed with the initial cleanliness. There were hairs in the sink, dirty glasses and unswept floors. Although the room had recently been refurbished, there were brown splatters on the walls, paint on the headboards and paint trodden into the new flooring. It didn’t feel clean, although this was rectified the following morning. The shower cubicle was great. Bed mattresses rock hard. Air con In room very effective and the rooms are spacious. Cleaning was inconsistent. Every day the beds were made and towels changed, but used coffee cups were left and sandy floors weren’t swept, sinks weren’t cleaned either. Other days were much better. Looking at our friends’ rooms, theirs were noticeably cleaner, so perhaps we were just unlucky. Pros * The food was really nice. The buffet isn’t huge, but the hotel isn’t huge either, and what is served is fresh and tasty and a good choice. * The snack bar was excellent. The two ladies running it were lovely and kept everything clean while serving fresh pizza and burgers. * The gym was good, although there was no air conditioning making for a very quick and sweaty workout! * The kids’ club and entertainment team were fabulous. * I’d read reviews suggesting the hotel was overrun with cats, but we hardly saw any and there was no cat mess or smell at all. * All the staff were friendly and hardworking. * Our room was opposite the entertainment area which actually worked well for us. We could watch the entertainment while our little boy slept as the rooms were fairly well soundproofed. * ⁠we used the zone 2 pool which was nice and quieter and never had any issues getting sunbeds. * ⁠holiday world (walking distance) , Aqualand and the sand dunes are all great days/evenings out and had each way will cost approx €6/7. Areas for Improvement * Food needs clearer labelling. Many dishes are simply labelled “variety of desserts” or “variety of salads”, with no clear information about vegetarian, vegan, nut or other allergens. This could be a serious issue for guests with dietary requirements. * Better lighting around the walkways would help, as some steps are difficult to see at night. * The artificial grass areas near the rooms need cleaning more regularly. Ours didn’t appear to be cleaned all week and became quite messy. * More drink stations would be useful, as the single juice/water machine at breakfast became very busy. More access to drinking water too would be very good. * It would be nice to have an evening area where drinks are served in proper glasses. I understand plastic cups around the pool, but using them everywhere doesn’t feel in keeping with a 4* hotel. Overall For what we paid, I really can’t complain and we had a great holiday overall. My only disappointment was arriving with the expectation that this was a 4* hotel. I think it’s much more accurately described as a good 3* hotel with the potential to become 4* with some investment and investment.

Stayed at the Koala Graden in Maspalomas the first week of August. We travelled as family of 4, my wife, our two daughters (2 & 5) and myself and we couldn’t fault it from start to end. Firstly the check in - we arrived late due to a delayed departure from MAN, the security team was manning the desk as it was nearly 1am. They checked us in smoothly and helped us with our luggage. The Room - We stayed in 133 and it was immaculate, cleaned every day and fresh towels daily. It was clean spacious and had a huge bathroom which is a bonus as it had a bath, perfect for two busy little ones. Bed was firm but totally acceptable for a week and we slept well. Food - Overall very good and pleasant, mix of varied chaises daily with a few main staples such as pizza (which was homemade and delicious) chips and salad. They did a nice mix of different meat dishes daily, the grill area was particularly nice, freshly cooked fish and meats (the pork was my favourite). The only down side was the GF and allergy catering wasn’t very good, if you do suffer from food allergies I’d seriously contemplate looking for a different hotel, or be prepared to sort your own food out. Drink - It’s all self service wine and beer, the wine isn’t the best but it rarely is at many hotels. The hotel itself - tidy and well laid out into different zones. I’d avoid zone 2 if you like to get to sleep early or have little ones that need to sleep routinely, that area is where the entertainment stage is and the entrainment goes on quite late and is loud. As for the entertainment, simply brilliant! The kids loved it, as did we. We read an awful lot of reviews before going there and we were genuinely worried, but worry not, the reviews are not a true reflection of the hotel. For the price of this hotel I’d expect a few small issues, we are lucky to have stayed in many high end hotels and you can’t compare based on price point alone. The price you pay and the package you get at Koala really is impressive and right on the mark. Honestly don’t go by many of the negative reviews you will undoubtedly read, they all follow the same narrative and actually don’t impact on a good holiday and always remember, some people just like to whine and the moment they get behind a keyboard they go to town.

Food and drinks are fine but unfortunately the cleaning of the place is awful. My room has not had the floor cleaned one all week the bed sheets haven’t been changed even had to fetch my own toilet roll twice because we wasn’t supplied with it. A cat took a dump under a sun lounger and after asking someone to clean it up it took near 40 mins to do it

We stayed at Livvo Koala Garden from 18th July on an all-inclusive package and, overall, we had a really enjoyable holiday. Check-in & Room We arrived at around 3:00 pm. Check-in took a little while, but the reception was extremely busy, so it was understandable. We stayed in Family Room 342 and I’ll be uploading a room video separately. After dropping our cases off, we headed straight to the nearby snack bar. Snack Bar 🍔🍕 One thing that really impressed us was that they were constantly cooking fresh food. Fresh pizzas, burgers and hot dogs were available throughout the day. I grabbed a freshly made cheeseburger with salad and an ice-cold Amstel. One thing to note is that the snack bar and many of the self-service drink stations use small brown cardboard cups. Even the beer and soft drinks are often served in these, and they aren’t pint-sized. If you prefer the larger reusable plastic cups, you’ll need to collect them from the main pool bar. Even in the main restaurant, the beer glasses are the same small glasses used for fruit juice. Restaurant 🍽️ Breakfast Breakfast was excellent with plenty of choice. * Lovely crispy bacon. * Hot dog-style sausages as well as chopped traditional sausages. * Ham and cheese omelettes. * Fried, scrambled and boiled eggs. * Hash browns (available on some mornings). * Fresh baguettes, bagels and pastries. * Lots of fruit juices. * Various milk options for different dietary requirements. Lunch Lunch can become repetitive if you’re expecting something completely different every day, but there’s still plenty to choose from. Travelling with autistic children who can be particular about food wasn’t a problem. There was always pizza, chips, pasta and other familiar foods available. I probably lived on pizza, chips, salad and rice at lunchtime, but I’d usually try something different in the evening. Evening Meals Again, plenty of choice. We enjoyed the Chinese-themed evening, plus dishes including veal stew, turkey in sauce and chicken skewers. In my opinion, the food only becomes repetitive if you choose the same meals every day. Joey’s Italian 🍝🍕 Joey’s Italian is included with the all-inclusive package, although you do need to book a table. It’s quieter than the main restaurant and serves pizzas, spaghetti Bolognese, lasagne, pasta dishes, meats and a good selection of cheeses. The only disappointment… no cheesy garlic bread! That definitely felt like a missed opportunity! Pools 🏊 There are several pool areas around the resort. We mostly used the quieter pool near Joey’s Restaurant as it suited our autistic children much better. The pools are quite deep in places, so keep that in mind if you’re travelling with younger children. Everything around the pool areas was kept clean. Before travelling we’d seen Facebook posts claiming there was cat poo everywhere around the hotel. We honestly didn’t see anything like that during our stay. The only funny issue was the ants around one of the self-service drinks machines. There were quite a few crawling around the drink nozzles, so you had to keep an eye out when pouring your cola or apple juice! Free all-inclusive drinks are great… free ants with every drink, not so much! 😂 At the quieter Joey’s pool there isn’t any pizza, snacks or ice available, so you’ll need to walk over to the snack bar. Like elsewhere around the hotel, only cardboard cups are available here. We noticed lots of guests bringing their own pint cups. We ended up buying one from the gift shop near the lighthouse for €8, and it was well worth it for keeping drinks colder and reducing trips for refills. Entertainment 🎤 The entertainment team work incredibly hard throughout the day and evening. Night-time entertainment included: * Live dance shows. * Karaoke. * Quiz nights. * Games for adults and children. There’s a large outdoor stage with plenty of seating, creating a great atmosphere each evening. Local Area There’s a SPAR supermarket directly opposite the hotel with reasonable prices for snacks, drinks and essentials. Holiday World is also just across the road and is definitely worth a visit. Admission was around €16 for adults and approximately €10 for children (prices may change). There are loads of rides including: * Roller coaster. * Dodgems. * Big wheel. * Water ride. * Drop ride. * Claw attraction. * Arcades and food court. Renovations The hotel is currently renovating some of its rooms. We had a look into one being refurbished and they’re fitting laminate flooring, larger double beds instead of two singles pushed together, and making the rooms much brighter, which should make a noticeable improvement. Overall Would I return? Absolutely, yes. No, I don’t personally think it’s a true four-star hotel just yet, but it’s clearly improving and the renovations are a positive sign. Could things be better? Definitely. I’d love to see: * Better reusable drink cups throughout the resort. * Snacks available at all pool areas. * Ice available at every drinks station. But don’t let some of the Facebook comments put you off. We found the hotel clean throughout our stay, there was always plenty of food available, and despite people saying there was “nothing to eat”, we never struggled to find something we enjoyed. Everyone’s holiday experience is different, but from our point of view we had a fantastic week and would happily return. Overall rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐☆ (4/5)

Still here now day 4, day 3 my grandchild got locked in a toilet, staff unable to get her out and attempted to open the lock with a butter knife on x3 occasions, maids do not bring fresh bath towels to the room. You have to get you own water for the kettle, even though there are fridges in the apartment. Entertainment has been the same every night since arrival. No TUI rep available, This is not a 4 star all inclusive hotel
