Since the hotel is already quite old and has clearly seen better days, we did not expect anything particularly special, although there are always things that could be improved. The reception desk looks more like something you would find in a bank or office, behind glass. The glass is covered with printed A4 sheets containing various notices, warnings about fines, and other information. All of this could be presented in a much nicer and more welcoming way. We had never experienced a hotel where you cannot check in before 3 p.m. before. Okay, we can live with that. However, hotels usually at least provide towels and some basic information, wifi or instructions while you wait. At this hotel, there apparently were no pool towels at all. Even so, someone could at least have explained where everything was located. We had to ask ourselves where we could leave our luggage, wifi, how to get electricity in the room etc. The lobby itself is cold and unwelcoming, almost as if it were located in some kind of outdoor hall. The waiting/seating areas on the different floors, along the corridors, are even worse — just a leather sofa and a table, with no plants, artwork, or any other decorative elements to make the space feel warm or inviting. Very big empty cold hall. We found the lobby toilet where we could change our clothes. Obviously, you do not leave the toilet door wide open while changing, even if you are doing something by the sink. At one point, a cleaner suddenly came in, shouted at me angrily, and said that the door must always be left open. Okay, I guess next time guests are expected to change their clothes in front of people passing through the corridor. The receptionists do not speak much English, and they have difficulty understanding anything more detailed or specific. The room key is not a card. Instead, there is one key for two people, with a heavy metal tag attached to it, about the size of a room key card. later we found out it was also the card used to activate the electricity in the room. That was a first for us. The room itself was okay, nothing fancy. Plastic garden chairs at the balcony, dirty sidetable, that was never cleaned from the dust. The one thing that is always a problem with these small hotell, is that the cleaners apparently never want to sweep or mop the floors. There was already sand on the floor when we arrived. Towels were changed every day, and the bed linen every two-three days, but the floor and drinking glasses were never cleaned. No signs to put on the door, no information about the times or hotel or tv. No paper or pen. Unfortunately, our bathroom also had a serious problem. The bottom of the shower cabin was leaking, so just 10 seconds of washing your feet was enough to cause a flood on the bathroom floor. We asked four times for extra towels over several days, speaking to different receptionists each time, but never received them. Eventually, I asked to speak to the manager. We explained that, as everything was already unpacked, we did not want to make things more difficult for ourselves or create extra work for the hotel by changing rooms, especially since we had already been putting up with the problem for several days. We simply asked if it would be possible to get the extra towels and requested that the cleaners be told not to take them away. The manager seemed to understand and even asked whether some damaged towels could be used on the floor. Of course, we said yes. Unfortunately, the cleaners took those away as well. Luckily, we had been clever enough to hide two clean ones in our suitcase beforehand. How difficult is it to make it clear — and to see for yourself — that these towels are not being used as regular towels, but have been deliberately placed in front of the shower cabin to prevent the water from spreading across the bathroom floor? The toiletries were also very limited: only two small bars of soap and two shower gels, which were never replenished. No shampoo or conditioner was provided. Luckily, we did not choose the all-inclusive option. We only had breakfast because we couldnt take this off, and honestly, even that could have been skipped. Only went to breakfast 2 times over 8 days. There were not enough tables, there were cats both outside and inside the dining area, the food selection was very poor, and cutlery such as knives and forks was often simply unavailable. The pool area is completely open and not fenced off, which gives the whole place a rather bleak and unattractive appearance. You can just walk directly across the dried up grass from your sunbed to the parking lot of another apartment building. The area around the pool — and the pool itself had dry leaves that had fallen from the trees, and they were not cleaned up. The first time we visited in 2018, we stayed at a three-star hotel that was closer to the beach, and even that hotel was already better than this one at that time. If you only need a place to sleep, this hotel will do. But for the same money, you can find a better hotel or apartment that is also closer to the beach.
Location was great. Close enough to the action but far enough away to be peaceful at night. Rooms were ok, clean enough and with air con, also comfortable. Staff were great also. Breakfast was not great but nowhere near as bad as some of the other reviews on here. It was edible but was the same every morning. As pointed out in other reviews friends bar across from the hotel is good to go for lunch and evening meals. Not a 4 star by uk standards but we had no issues with anything during our stay.
