Maspalomas Oasis Club is a very basic resort and, overall, it genuinely feels like stepping back 20 years. The whole place is dated, from the bungalows and children’s play area to the entertainment facilities, although everything was clean and well maintained enough for a budget holiday. The bungalows are spread over two floors, so this is worth bearing in mind if you have young children or anyone who struggles with stairs. Our bungalow was clean but basic, and the pull-out sofa bed wasn’t particularly comfortable. There is air conditioning in the bedroom, but not in the rest of the bungalow. The communal areas and pools were clean. There are two pools, with one being a baby pool. The pool area isn’t huge, so there aren’t loads of sunbeds, but we had no problem finding one or two during our stay. Wi-Fi is available throughout and worked fine for us. We also didn’t experience any issues with noise from neighbouring bungalows, and the entertainment finished around 10pm each evening, so it was generally quiet afterwards. Housekeeping clean the bungalows, although there is no cleaning service on Thursdays or Sundays. Check-in was also straightforward with no issues. The beach is around a 30-minute walk away and is lovely. Shops, restaurants and other bars are also around a 30-minute walk, so the location is better suited to people who don’t mind a bit of walking. The staff are friendly, and the kids’ entertainer is a nice guy who seems to be doing his best with what he has available. Unfortunately, the evening entertainment itself was poor. So far, everything has been in Spanish, which makes it difficult for non-Spanish-speaking guests to get involved. The entertainment area is also very small and is positioned directly outside the main entrance to the restaurant, which isn’t ideal. There simply isn’t much room for children to dance or for the entertainment to work properly. The children’s play area is another part of the resort that really needs updating. Food-wise, it was okay, but vegetarian options were very limited. One evening there was pizza on the menu, but it contained meat. I asked if they could make a simple Margherita pizza, but was told this wasn’t possible, which was disappointing. There is only one bar, the pool bar. The drinks were fine, although the service could be frustrating at times, as the waiter would occasionally walk off to do other things while you were waiting to be served. One thing to be aware of is that the all-inclusive finishes at 12pm on your final day, regardless of what time you check out. We weren’t told this when we arrived, so it came as a surprise on our last day. We paid around £1,700 for a family of four during the summer holidays, and for that price I’d say it was decent value for money. You just need to come with realistic expectations about what you’re getting. Would we return? Yes, I think we would consider coming back for a cheap week in the sun, particularly if we found a good deal. I’d say it would probably suit older couples or anyone who simply wants to sunbathe, relax and enjoy the weather without needing lots of modern facilities or entertainment. For families, especially those looking for good children’s entertainment and modern facilities, there are probably better options. But for a reasonably priced, no-frills week in the sun, it does the job.
We book all inclusive and we pay quite high price for the condition. Rooms terrible, full of crack, not clean and there is not sofa bed. Food is the same every day and with no taste. I am not recommending to anyone.
First of all I’d like to say this was my first time staying in a 2 star hotel. Previously I’ve only ever been in 4 star or higher. Taking this into account I feel like it could have been worse. People complaining about food choice etc clearly aren’t taking into account they’ve booked a dirt cheap 2 star hotel. I mean the place is a bit of a dive however the rooms aren’t bad and the place generally is decent enough considering the price. The food is pretty rank and the same choice for every day and night however again it’s a tiny hotel so you can’t expect much choice. On the previous point of food we actually found this to be a good thing however as the location of the hotel is good enough that it’s a nice gentle walk into maspalomas town which is lovely! And we found a couple of amazing restaurants which even if the food was great in the hotel I’d still have wanted to eat at anyway! If you’re planning to book I’d also bring some decent noise cancelling earphones as the music is pretty tragic around the pool. The pool area does also get quite crowded. Also once drinks are finished around the pool the plastic cups are never cleaned during the day so these are just left to fly about the place. Would I stay at the hotel again personally no however this was a cheap getaway as we go on holiday again in 10 days time and we booked 2 days prior to arrival. However I still feel like it was good value for money so if what you’re looking for is a cheap getaway I definitely wouldn’t advise against booking!
