Just horrible ! The experience was horrible definitely not 5* more like 1* if that . 2 out of 6 of our family was sick eating the food , the Marco Polo restaurant is disappointing! The food there looks like sick and one of the hotel staff said it’s not a five star hotel and the restaurant is sickly . The photos are nothing like the hotel , our room was mouldy the door didn’t lock and the tap water is just horrible
A first for me, a review part way through a holiday! Arrived Saturday, now Wednesday morning and over the last 24 hours 5 out of our group of 10 are now down with vomiting and diarrhoea. Havent checked in with the others yet this morning so that may be more!! We came, begrudgingly, with sanitiser, antibacterial wipes etc. having been concerned about the recent comments regarding sickness and cleanliness. For the last 5 weeks myself and my travel agent had been in touch with Jet2 almost daily raising our concerns and requesting we be moved. Jet2 insisted the hotel was fine for us to travel to, though their local representative has stated they are still aware of the ongoing sickness, but 'its not as bad as it was'!!! After a number of phone calls. I'm apparently getting a call from a senior member of the in resort team this morning to discuss the situation, watch this space!!!!!
Worst holiday of our lives – serious hygiene concerns. Think twice before booking this hotel. Akti Imperial Hotel & Convention Center Dolce by Wyndham Stay: 14–21 October This has been the worst holiday of our lives. We booked this hotel expecting a relaxing week in Rhodes, but instead we experienced an absolute nightmare involving widespread illness, appalling hygiene, terrible service and conditions that seriously made us question the hotel’s standards. 10 out of 11 people in our group became sick. Almost our entire group suffered from illness during this holiday. Based on our experience, we strongly suspect that the food or hygiene at the hotel may have played a role. What makes this particularly concerning is that we had previously been told that the outbreak was over, yet our group still ended up with 10 out of 11 people becoming ill. The only person in our group who remained healthy washed their hands constantly and did not eat any food or drink anything provided by the hotel. While we cannot scientifically establish the exact source of the illness, this contrast raises serious questions about the food, hygiene and precautions in place. Guests should not have to spend their entire holiday worrying about whether eating a meal or drinking something at their hotel will make them sick. The conditions we witnessed were deeply disturbing. We could hear guests vomiting in the pool toilets, only to see them walk straight back out and lie down by the pool again. Staff members also appeared to be working while sick. This created an extremely concerning impression of how illness was being managed throughout the hotel. If an outbreak is occurring, guests deserve honest communication, appropriate hygiene precautions and responsible management. Being told that the outbreak had ended, only for so many people in our group to become ill, made the entire situation even more distressing. Five hours waiting for drinking water while sick. While we were ill and confined to our room, we had to wait five hours for drinking water. Five hours without the water we had requested while suffering from a stomach illness is beyond unacceptable. Vomiting and diarrhoea can cause dehydration, making access to drinking water especially important. The lack of urgency and basic care we experienced was disgraceful. The hygiene was appalling. There was a smell of vomit around the hotel. Plates and cutlery were visibly dirty, the general cleanliness was extremely disappointing, and some sun loungers were broken. These are not minor inconveniences or unreasonable complaints about a holiday. Clean dining utensils, appropriate hygiene procedures and basic maintenance are fundamental expectations of any hotel. The hotel looks nothing like the advertised photos. The hotel looked considerably smaller, dirtier and less pleasant in reality than it appeared online. The positive reviews we read before booking do not reflect our experience whatsoever. We would never have booked this place had we known what we would encounter. This was not simply a disappointing holiday because of poor entertainment or mediocre food. Almost our entire group became ill, we witnessed concerning hygiene conditions, and we were left waiting five hours for drinking water when we needed it most. We believe this hotel requires an urgent and thorough hygiene inspection. The relevant authorities should investigate the reported illness, the hotel’s food-handling practices, its cleaning procedures and how it manages potentially infectious guests and staff. Guests deserve to know whether appropriate health and safety standards are being met. Our advice to other travellers: think very carefully before booking. We would absolutely not recommend this hotel based on our experience. Spending your hard-earned money on a holiday should not mean worrying about getting sick from the food, questioning the cleanliness of your cutlery or waiting five hours for drinking water. This hotel turned what should have been a wonderful week in Rhodes into the worst holiday we have ever had. The illness, the hygiene concerns, the lack of service and the enormous disappointment made this experience completely unacceptable. We would never return, and we strongly encourage prospective guests to investigate the hotel’s recent hygiene situation carefully before making a booking. No holiday should come at the expense of your health and well-being.
