We were here last year. The hotel location and scenery is truly superb. Some people complaining about bugs and insects in the rooms, but we did not have any during our stay even if we were on the ground floor. The food in the restaurant is ok, it's not remarkable, but it's fine and well-cooked most importantly. The bread selection and cookies were great though. The woman with dark hair who was welcoming the guests at restaurant entry was very kind. I don't remember the cleaning staff, but as far as I know the towels were getting changed every day. The rooms have a working fridge, which is a huge pros! On a negative side, the pool is small and we could barely be there as there were lots of loud kids repeatedly jumping in, so forget about pool as an adult and accept that you will most likely be constrained to beach only and eventually some activities for which you will pay, so we felt a bit bored after 4 days already. It would be nice if hotel built an adult-only or silence pool as the current one is really not suited for everyone. The rooms are visually good, but we found our room to be a bit too small for three people, I guess some rooms are larger. Also, some tablecloths and booths in the restaurants were stained and not cleaned immediately. Overall, I quite liked this place, mainly the sea itself and beautiful pine trees surrounding the hotel. I think I would return one day, but I would not spend more than 5 days there. I wouldn't give 5 stars, but it doesn't deserve 3 stars either, so ⭐⭐⭐⭐.
I love how you have enithing so close to you
Overall, our stay was average. The hotel has some strong points, but unfortunately several negative experiences left us disappointed. Positives: - The location is excellent, with the beach just a short walk away. - The hotel provides free beach chairs, which was a nice bonus. Negatives: - The food selection was disappointing. Empty trays were often left without being refilled, especially later during meal times, so if you didn't arrive early, some dishes were simply unavailable. - On several occasions, the food that was available was only lukewarm or completely cold. - The overall cleanliness of the hotel could definitely be improved. The biggest issue, however, was the handling of my missing prescription glasses. Before going to the beach, I took my sunglasses and left my prescription glasses in the room. I am certain they were left there. While we were at the beach, the room was cleaned. When we returned, my prescription glasses were gone. I immediately reported this to the reception. They told me they would post a message in the staff group chat and asked me to return the following day when the head housekeeper was back. The next day, which was also our checkout day, I asked again. I was simply told that nobody had seen the glasses and that the cleaning staff "would never steal because they are afraid of being deported." I wasn't expecting anyone to accuse an employee without evidence, but I did expect the hotel to investigate the situation professionally and show genuine concern. Instead, I felt that my report was dismissed, and the response focused more on defending the staff than on helping resolve the issue. Because of the food quality, cleanliness, and especially the poor handling of the missing glasses, I cannot rate this hotel higher despite its great location and friendly reception staff.
Getting to Starigrad on Hvar Island from Split is relatively straightforward by ferry. As a foot passenger there is a bit of a trek to the ferry which in the heat can be hard work as there is no assistance but at least it was possible to leave heavy luggage on a pallet on the car deck and then take lift or escalator to the lounge deck. The Aminess hotel is in an isolated area not far from the attractive town of Vrboska. No other accommodation close by except for the FKK-Nudist motor-home campsite. A pathway passes the hotel along the shoreside to get to Vrboska but you need to be wary of fast cyclists and scooters which are very difficult to hear approaching. There is a fairly busy small beach and aquapark near the hotel plus small boat hire, tennis and a couple of bars. FKK-nudist is very popular in the remainder of the adjacent peninsular (and apparently the small island just to North?) with frequent unofficial markings ('FKK') painted on rocks pointing to suitable sunbathing/swimming rocky locations with trees for shade. The peninsular is stunning, rich colours, peaceful, very picturesque with fairly dense woodland, well defined tracks and clean fairly calm sea except for wash from the occasional speeding boat. Many touring yachts anchor close by providing some visual interest and generally respect the peace of the area. Arrival at the hotel is a bit awkward with heavy luggage as there is no obvious easy route to Reception at the bottom of a steep flight of steps and there is no assistance. Check-in efficient. Reception area lobby nicely decorated. Room a bit of a shock to see what had the appearance of dark dog pawprints scattered around in the pale carpet. They probably should have used dark carpeting like in the corridor! Hotel appeared to be dog-friendly as some guests took dogs into accommodation. The room was in good condition probably refurbished maybe 10 years ago judging by the style. Kettle (but no coffee/tea so take some with you), no bottled water, hairdryer (but awkward socket in washroom), digital safe, empty mini-fridge, aircon. TV but no UK channels. EU power sockets and (I guess) local sockets, no USB power, wifi. Shower liquid and hand wash liquid. Power shower. Towels and bedding changed frequently. We had a balcony with a glimpse of the close sea through the dense conifers. Balcony a bit of a waste of time as could rarely use owing to inconsiderate stinky chain-smoking neighbours. Maybe the hotel could consider making one of the accommodation blocks only available for non-smoking, non-vaping guests? I got the impression the majority of guests didn't smoke but not given much consideration - for example the long outdoor walkway bar you had to pass through from reception. Our initial visit to the canteen stopped us in our tracks when confronted by those nasty nakta notura drink dispensing machines with factory manufactured flavours. No real fresh fruit juices here. Coffee was unusual, not recognisable as normal quality robusta or arabica so you might want to consider taking some supplies. Wine was OK and beer a Croatian brand. There always seemed to be a mad rush at dinner as people grabbed some fruit and cake before it ran out and then joined the long queue for warmed 'Mains' items from the line of metal trays. It wasn't easy to see what was available which meant taking a portion from each canteen tray as you moved along the tight queue in case you ended up with nothing. After a few visits you realised that it was very much the same food every evening. Must be quite embarrassing for the chef having to prepare. The canteen is obviously run to a tight budget. No dressing up for dinner required. As cushion seating quite grimy, even early season (possibly from children climbing on both this and previous years?) best not to wear white/light coloured clothing. The hotel seemed to have few people around after dinner, no idea where they all went. Sleep quality good for a holiday hotel and carpeting probably helped keep noise down. Small spa/sauna and gym looked nice (new?) but didn't use as it was required to pre-book sauna in advance and weather too warm anyway. Overall staff generally pleasant and hardworking. Difficult to give the hotel a 'rating' owing to inconsistent quality, some parts good, other parts neglected and grimy. Definitely not 4star but could be 3star if given some TLC and a deep clean. The hotel is lucky to be in such a nice location and hopefully the new ownership for this year will continue to keep gradually making improvements as there is a lot of potential here.
