I booked a twin room with an extra bed for one night, two adults and my 16 year old son. The booking specifically asked his age. I have done this many times around Europe and to be clear I expect some compromises. On arrival at check in time, 3pm, the room wasn't ready, ok, no major issue. We returned 40 minutes later, room now ready. On entering only two beds were in what could only be described as an adequate sized twin room. I was then told a 3rd bed would be added (so the room wasn't actually ready), I questioned this as there was no way this could happen with any degree of comfort. I then spoke to the manager, explaining it had been clearly stated that the third person was 16. The room could take a child's bed or cot but certainly not another full size bed. What can I say about the manager, certainly nothing good, dismissive, rude, condescending and arrogant. Not sure where he was "trained" but someone wasted their time and money. Then, during our discussion, another reception staff member was laughing, quite clearly at my expense. Denied by both the staff member and manager. Interestingly however, the staff member then apologised stating he was laughing at something unrelated. A blatant lie and why would you apologise for something you hadn't done? Needless to say we left and found a "proper" three bed room. Unprofessional staff who would do well to study hospitality management, good manners and basic common courtesy. Sorry Vienna, this hotel is not a good advert.
