Beautiful hotel currently undergoing partial renovation, and they gave us a wonderful room from the new ones. Breakfast is now served in the hotel across the street, also part of the group (Boss), and it is excellent, with a wide selection of both savory and sweet items (if paid for at 10 euros per person). Luggage storage on departure days is also done at the Boss hotel across the street due to the renovation of the Breeze. The staff is very kind and very friendly. They gave us excellent advice. It is a few steps from Omonia square (and Metro station). Unfortunately, it is an area where the Municipality has designated and allowed the presence of many homeless people and drug addicts, but there is also a Police station, and these people, while not pleasant to look at, keep very much to themselves and do not bother anyone. As soon as you pass Omonia square (very beautiful in itself) in the direction of the center, the presence of drug addicts and homeless people ends. From here you can also reach Syntagma square on foot in about 15 minutes, and then the Acropolis in about 25/30 minutes at a good pace. So I recommend it. In Omonia square there are good restaurants (and many other businesses) if you do not want to go to the center.
The morning receptionist is a 10; the hotel is under construction, the elevators only fit one person... the room was already renovated, but to go to the bathroom you have to go to the hotel of the same company across the street, just like for breakfast... well-located, but in Spain they wouldn't let it open in these conditions... check before deciding if you want this hotel... but the receptionist made the stay as pleasant as she could.
I rarely leave negative reviews, but this experience warrants one. At no point during the booking process was there any disclosure that the hotel was undergoing major construction. Had this been communicated honestly, I would have chosen to stay elsewhere. Guests deserve transparency before making a reservation. The problems began immediately. One elevator was completely out of service, and the remaining elevator was unreliable. Throughout the property there were obvious maintenance and safety concerns, including electrical outlets hanging out of the walls. Dirty laundry was left sitting on the front desk counter overnight, creating an unprofessional and unsanitary first impression. The most disturbing incident occurred outside the hotel’s entrance, where an individual was openly injecting heroin. Seeing this directly outside the front door was alarming and significantly impacted any sense of safety. To make matters worse, the breakfast we paid for was not even served at this hotel. Guests were required to walk across the street to a sister property, only to discover that it, too, was under construction. The breakfast experience was inconvenient and far below expectations. Having spent more than 40 years in the hospitality industry, I understand that renovations, maintenance issues, and unexpected challenges can happen. What is unacceptable is the complete lack of communication, transparency, and respect for guests. Good customer service is built on setting proper expectations, maintaining safe and clean facilities, and responding professionally when circumstances are less than ideal. Unfortunately, this property failed on all counts. This was one of the most disappointing hotel experiences I have had in decades. I cannot recommend this property until management makes significant improvements to both the physical condition of the hotel and, more importantly, its commitment to honest communication and guest service.
