⭐ 1/5 — Extremely disappointing stay Unfortunately, our stay at Villas Plat was extremely disappointing. There were problems with both our accommodation and the wider resort, and overall I would not recommend staying here. ROOMS The rooms are very outdated and, in my experience, poorly maintained. We encountered broken beds, ceiling fans that did not work and TV/fan remotes that were either faulty or completely useless. The ovens also did not work reliably. We experienced multiple power cuts during our stay, which was incredibly inconvenient. There was also an ant infestation in the accommodation, which is completely unacceptable for a hotel/resort. The toilet was another major issue. After flushing, it would make an extremely loud noise for around 10–15 minutes, which was particularly frustrating at night. If you’re travelling as a group and booking multiple rooms, be aware that the hotel may place your rooms at completely different ends of the resort rather than keeping you together in the same block. This made staying as a group much more difficult. THE RESORT ITSELF The Wi-Fi is practically useless unless you’re standing around reception. There is little to no useful Wi-Fi coverage around the accommodation. The pool was another major disappointment. It did not appear clean, and the water appeared to be a combination of saltwater and chlorine. There was also a noticeable amount of algae. There were no lifeguards on duty, which was concerning. The on-site shop is extremely limited and has very little in the way of useful products. Unfortunately, our experience with the shopkeeper was also poor, as they were particularly rude. The food was, quite frankly, absolutely vile. The dining area is far too small for the number of guests, meaning you can spend more time standing in a queue waiting for food than actually eating it. Another major inconvenience is that the restaurants and bars on site are cash-only, which is very inconvenient in this day and age, particularly when you’re staying at a resort where you would expect card payments to be available. The maintenance also left a lot to be desired. Several issues we encountered appeared to be dealt with inadequately, and the maintenance staff did not give us much confidence that problems were being properly resolved. There is also a strange rule whereby guests are not allowed into other guests’ rooms, even when they are staying at the resort together. This made visiting friends/family staying elsewhere on the site unnecessarily difficult. There was no night-time entertainment, which made the resort feel particularly dead in the evenings. THE LOCATION & ACCESSIBILITY The villas are built on a very steep hillside, with well over 100 steep steps around the site. There are no elevators in the buildings, meaning guests have to carry their luggage up one to three flights of steep stairs. This could be particularly difficult for anyone with mobility issues, young children, heavy luggage or anyone simply expecting a relatively accessible holiday resort. THE MOST SERIOUS ISSUE — MEDICAL EMERGENCY The most concerning experience of our entire stay happened when one of my friends was experiencing what we believed to be a medical emergency. We attempted to get help from reception so that we could contact 112, Croatia’s emergency number. The reception staff refused to assist us with making the call because the operator did not speak English. Regardless of whether reception staff personally considered the situation to be a medical emergency, I find it extremely concerning that hotel staff would refuse to assist guests in contacting emergency services when someone is potentially in danger. For me, this was the point where the experience went beyond simply being an old or poorly maintained resort. When a guest is potentially having a medical emergency, I would expect hotel staff to assist rather than leave guests to try to navigate the emergency system themselves, particularly when there is a language barrier. Overall Villas Plat has the potential to be a lovely resort because of its location and surroundings, but the standard of accommodation, maintenance, facilities, food and customer service we experienced was nowhere near what I would expect from a holiday resort. There were simply too many problems throughout the stay, ranging from broken facilities and poor cleanliness to the lack of basic amenities and, most seriously, the way our medical emergency was handled. I would not stay at Villas Plat again, and I would strongly recommend considering other accommodation in the Dubrovnik area before booking.

I don’t recommend this place. It is extremely overpriced for what you get. We stayed in Felicia, and unfortunately, the building was in terrible condition. The rooms were spacious, but that was about the only positive thing I can say. Everything was old and poorly maintained. The sofa was extremely uncomfortable, there were spiders and ants everywhere, and there was mold in the bathroom. The room also had a terrible musty smell, and the AC was very loud. The food was another major disappointment. You had to go right when the service started if you wanted warm food, because by the middle of the service, almost everything was already cold. The selection of dishes and drinks was very poor. The “coffee” served in the taverna was terrible and was only available during breakfast. Lunch was the worst meal, with very little choice. I even had to buy food for my children from the hotel café because there was so little suitable food available at lunch. Both the hotel and the taverna were dirty, old, and poorly maintained. Overall, the experience was very disappointing and definitely not worth the price. The beautiful views and beaches were the only real positives of our stay.
